Multi-Site Church
multi-site glasses       Right now Good News Community Church is seriously considering a Game Changer  opportunity to adopt Open Door Fellowship.  It's an opportunity that I am very excited about! The two churches would come together to become one church and would continue to meet in two locations. Good News would become a "multi-site church."

The idea of a multi-site church might be new to you, but it is actually a tried and true model for doing ministry and being The Church. Here are the top 10 advantages of a multi-site church:

1.    Assists in reaching friends and family unwilling to travel a great distance to church.

2.    Brings together the best aspects of larger churches and smaller churches.

3.    Increases the total number of available seats during optimal worship times.

4.    Overcomes geographic barriers when a church facility is landlocked or tightly zoned.

5.    Enables untapped talent to emerge each time a new venue or site is opened.

6.    Mobilizes volunteers through an added variety of ministry opportunities.

7.    Improves a church's stewardship of funds and resources.

8.    Enables a church to extend itself into smaller niches.

9.    Models and trains people for church planting elsewhere.

10.   Provides a pipeline for the development of emerging leaders.

 and future staff.

This list was taken from a Leadership Network article. You can read the entire article by clicking here.

From the above list it's easy to see why I am so excited about this opportunity to adopt Open Door Fellowship. We are only a few weeks away from the vote but we still have a couple of events for you to be involved in, including the Sneak Peek (see below). If you have any questions about the adoption, Good News being multi-site, any of the events, or anything else, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to talking with you.

  Sneak Peek

Tuesday October 9th, 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the sancturary

Come get a taste of what it would be like for the two churches to become one church. We'll meet each other, worship together, pray for each other, and explore what tomorrow will look like. Nursery care will be provided and fun stuff for the kids and teenagers will be happening at the same time.

Prayer + Q&A

Wed. Oct. 17th, 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the Deep Sea Room

This is a time to ask questions, get answers, and ask God if this adoption is what he wants for his church (Open Door will also be having a time of prayer in Commerce City at the exact same time).

Adoption Vote

Sunday October 21st, 2012 @ 12:30pm, in the sanctuary

Good News Owners are invited to vote on the proposed adoption. As always, the vote will be short and sweet because it will not include a time for questions or comments. If you have a question or comment, please be sure to contact Pastor Matthew  or one of the other Core Leaders before the day of the vote.

More Red Tape!!
Ripple Art #2

Red tape is the frustration of any person who has dealt with large corporations, insurance companies, or any government entity. The building expansion is snarled in red tape currently and that is delaying our start date.  The architect continues to address questions from the City of Broomfield engineering department and we hope to have everything resolved in early October.

Here's an update of what happened in September:

·         The building plans were approved by North Metro Fire on September 6. The architect and the contractor were told by the city of Broomfield that this was the last thing to be approved before granting a permit.

·         Excitement soon waned when the contractor called to get an appointment to pick up permits and was told that the engineering department at the city of Broomfield wanted to look over the plans.

·         The engineering department held onto the plans until September 14. They sent out a list of drainage concerns and are asking for more information.

·         The contractor needs to wait for final approval before picking up permits. But he was told that he must also attend a pre-construction meeting first. The city won't schedule the pre-construction meeting until after the engineering department gives approval.

·         On the brighter side the construction loan closed on Tuesday, September 25!

Even though the building expansion is caught up in red tape, rest assured that getting permits and starting construction are at the top of the priority list. Your prayers for favor and expediency with the City of Broomfield are much appreciated. The dream of the building expansion is becoming a reality because of your sacrificial giving to the Ripple Effect  above and beyond your regular giving. Thank you! You can make a commitment online today.  For more info about the Ripple Effect feel free to contact Lorie Schroeder at 303-469-4457 or L.Schroeder@GoodNewsChurch.org.

The Ripple Effect  is a spiritual journey that starts with you and is having far reaching effects throughout the community.

Another Life Changed
Life Change Ahead sign

A story that warrants sharing made its way to the office last month. It's about a young man whose life has been changed through the relationships, messages, and ministries at Good News Church. His name is Brynaum. Brynaum is 16 years old and was invited to church by a family in May of this year. He was a little scared and worried and his first thought when he walked into the church was, "I'm gonna burn or something." As the service went on, he became more comfortable and afterwards he told his friends that the church was "pretty awesome" and he wanted to come again.

Brynaum continued to come to Good News over the summer and slowly he began to hear messages about how much Jesus loves him and that Jesus died for him. He decided to put his life into Jesus' hands and now he is a Jesus follower! Brynaum says his life is different now. He is less focused on making a lot of money and is trusting Jesus for the direction of his life. He is less judgmental of others and works hard to see another person's point of view.

As you can see, lives are being changed at Good News Church and Brynaum is just one example! Your regular faithful gifts to Good News Church are used to make the Worship Gatherings happen. At Worship Gatherings folks get introduced to Jesus, and in Brynaum's case, make Jesus the leader of their life. Thank you for giving so faithfully! Thank you for helping people connect to Jesus through Good News Church and find their way to an eternity spent with Jesus in heaven. One way to make your giving easier is to set it up to process automatically through the church website.  It's so easy. You can do it online any time.

For more info about how your gifts are used or other giving alternatives, contact Lorie Schroeder at 303-469-4457 or L.Schroeder@goodnewschurch.org .
