What are LIVE Groups for?
Live Groups are your church community. They are the way for adults to connect at GoodNews. Without a LIVE Group you'll be missing out on significant understanding of God and others.
Who are LIVE Groups for?
LIVE Groups are for everybody at Good News Church. They’re a place for adults of all ages and stages, whether new to Good News or long-time members. Many LIVE Groups are also kid-friendly. If you are looking for meaningful friendships, a community that supports each other, or a place to learn more about Jesus, LIVE Groups are for you.
Why do LIVE Groups matter?
Personal and spiritual growth doesn't happen in isolation. LIVE Groups enable people to build communities that are safe places to connect with others and to help each other apply God's Word.
What happens in a LIVE Group?
Groups meet regularly to share, laugh, talk about that week's sermon, and to pray. They take care of each other, celebrate together and serve together. LIVE Groups connect individuals to God, one another, and the world.
How long am I committing?
Each LIVE Group semester lasts from 10 to 12 weeks. There is no requirement to continue in the same group. You have the flexibility to find the friendships you want in the LIVE Group of your choice.
What if I try a LIVE Group and it’s not for me?
That’s okay—you don’t have to find the perfect group on the first try. Give another group a try. Each group is unique. The built in break times between semesters give the opportunity to choose another group.
Can I miss a week or two?
Everybody has emergencies, but good relationships take quality time. Plan on attending your LIVE Group as many weeks as possible, and let your group know if you’re going to be missing.
How does a LIVE Group benefit me?
LIVE Groups are give-and-get. Members support each other each week and through any tough times someone might experience. You matter; without you, a LIVE Group is missing the chance to grow.
What about my kids?
Different LIVE Groups have different childcare options. For details, check with a LIVE Group Facilitator.
What do LIVE Groups do for others?
Each semester, LIVE Groups perform a service project in the community, helping others in need who aren’t necessarily connected yet to Good News. Your group will plan their service project together. Each group has a unique set of skills to share.
Are all LIVE Groups open and available?
Because LIVE Groups need to be a place where people can really know each other, the ideal size is 6-15 people. Some LIVE Groups are marked full, but only because they’re too big for more people to feel connected. It’s better in that case to start a new group, and give every LIVE Group member the best experience possible.
Where do I sign up?
If it’s the start of a new LIVE Groups semester, we’ll be promoting LIVE Groups at our morning gatherings and you will be given the opportunity to join a group. Otherwise contact John Polson, Director of Live Groups at .
